The developer behind Nashville Yards revealed new renderings of its expansive outdoor plaza, spanning from Broadway to Church Street.

Southwest Value Partners unveiled the final look of Ascension Saint Thomas Landing, a 1.31-acre pedestrian park in the 19-acre downtown development, at a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning.

“There are a lot of layers and some very exciting things happening at Nashville Yards throughout this 19-acre campus, but our very favorite part of this project is the green space that will run from Broadway, behind me all the way up to the Pinnacle tower, where we’ll also have a waterfall and monumental staircase,” Charles Robert Bone, managing director with Southwest Value Partners, said at the event.

The plaza, which can be accessed from Union Station hotel, will include pickleball courts and outdoor seating underneath the Broadway bridge.

A multilevel dog park and amphitheater will rise in the center of the outdoor space, surrounded by food trucks, outdoor seating and pop-up retail, urban farming and community events.

Plans also include exterior renovations to Union Station which will feature a stage, bar, flexible event space and a grove terrace.

Nashville Yards and AEG announced its partnership with Ascension Saint Thomas in 2022.

“If you know the city … and you drove down Broadway entering downtown, you know the transformational impact Nashville Yards has had on our city as the gateway to downtown,” Fahad Tahir, CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas, said at Wednesday’s event. “It’s that spirit and that excitement that got us involved in looking at really integrating health and wellness and accessibility and community into Nashville Yards.”

Ascension Saint Thomas will also have a clinic in the development, located in the future Pinnacle tower.

Southwest Value partners is nearing completion on the $1 billion development. In addition to the already-opened Grand Hyatt hotel, the historic Union Station hotel and two Amazon towers, another five buildings are set to open by early next year, including the 35-story future Pinnacle tower, the CAA creative office building, The Pinnacle music venue and two residential towers.

“I’ve been excited about this project beyond more than just today, really for the better part of a decade,” Mayor Freddie O’Connell said at the event. “This gateway, when I was a kid growing up in Nashville, was car dealerships and a place to get your car fixed if it broke down. Now, it’s something much more extraordinary.”
